When
Jack Brewer, President of Stick & Stones Unlimited, contemplated moving from his
leased facilities in Irving, Texas to his own new 30,000 square foot office and
manufacturing facility in Southlake (northeast of Fort Worth), he had been told
to “anticipate heavy headaches and problems, and probably end up being upset
with the contractor!”
At the end of the job however, Jack said: “The anticipated
problems were nonexistent! We wish to commend the entire d/b constructors staff
for a great job!”
Brewer
chose to work with d/b constructors, inc. and architect, Wayne Clendening, for
the complete design and construction of his new facility. By developing the cost
budgets and the architectural concepts simultaneously, he found that he was in
complete control of all phases of the project from the beginning, and was able
to enter into an agreement for the total project at costs which were fully known
before any major financial commitments were required on his part.
Here are some of the items of advice Mr. Brewer extends to
those contemplating the ownership of a new building:
“Don’t build too small. (His business had already moved
several times before.)”
