Crest
Ridge Homes, one of the largest builders of manufactured housing in the state,
tripled its capacity with the opening of a new $3.5 million facility built by
d/b constructors in Breckenridge, TX.
The new facility has seven acres of concrete and 146,800
square feet under roof. The building is an engineered steel frame with metal
walls and a standing seam roof with 20-year weather tightness warranty. From
concept to completion, the project took 15 months.
“This
was an exciting project,” said Alan Jackson, president of d/b constructors. “We
designed and built different floor levels for the production line and an
intricate system of automation both above and below the working area.”
“It was a good team concept,” said John Drake, president of
Crest Ridge Homes. “We knew what we needed and d/b had the people to build us
what we wanted.”
d/b was selected as general contractor after an extensive
statewide search. “I had interviewed a number of major builders in the State of
Texas,” Drake said. “All were given the same information and parameters from the
early-on meetings and we found that d/b satisfied those better than all of them
in the overall project. If I build number three at this location, it will be d/b
on the phone.”
Crest
Ridge Homes is a subsidiary of Champion Enterprises, Inc., the second largest
builder of manufactured housing in the world. Homes produced at the Crest Ridge
plant are marketed throughout a five state region.
